Dont know about 3G, but buying Quad band is better.
Operators in india operate on 900MHz and 1800Mhz. Make sure ur phone supports them.

I am currently in the US and planning to Buy the Nexus one unlocked version and get to India next month,
I have the following questions :

1.The nexus site now offers two versions of the nexus one a) 3G/UMTS bands (850/1900/2100 MHz) and four GSM radio frequencies (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and b) 3G/UMTS bands (900/AWS/2100 MHz) and four GSM radio frequencies (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) , hence let me know which one to choose.

2. What about the ANdroid Market place when accessing from India, will it allow dwnlding/installing apps.

Your information would allow me to decide whether to buy nexus one or not, thanks again.
